A lovely walk from Stansted house to Kingley vale which is the home of many ancient Ewe Trees. A nice warm up and finish on the roads through Stansted park. Then we have a steep descent and a few climbs on this walk. A mixture of paths and surfaces and some chalky paths with loose stones, where poles will be useful. Walk through the ancient trees at the bottom of Kingley Vale and after the steep climb up the steps, admire the ancient barrows and amazing views at the top. 1750 ft of climbing and 13 miles.
Please use the walkers car park, which is the first car park on the right as you drive into Stansted house PO9 6DU. Toilets available at Stansted. Coffee and cake in the Pavilion Cafe at the end. Poles are useful for the climbs and if the ground is still wet and muddy. Don't forget that the clocks "Spring Forward" during the night before the walk! Hopefully we will see the Highland Cows at the start. Possibly a couple of fields with sheep in and sometimes cattle at the top of Kingley Vale so well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
