Train based walk

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Manchester Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train, or at the Walk Start at Strines railway station.
Transport to Walk Start: 10:18 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination New Mills Central)
Suggested Ticket: Off Peak Day Return to Strines £8.30
Walk Start: Strines Railway Station at 11:00
Waypoints: Mellor Moor, Brook Bottom, Roman Lakes, Marple Locks
Return Services: From Marple - 16:07; 16:40; 17:07; 17:41; 18:07 and at 41 and 07 past the hour until 19:40 then please check National/Northern Rail for further trains
Extra: No toilets at walk start There are no toilets en-route. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)
This linear walk is Stage 6 of GM Ringway and is a lovely mix of heritage sites and scenic views. The walk starts with a steady ascent but is then downhill apart from a small uphill on our way to the end. Parts of the trail will be muddy at this time of year especially if we have had rain so walking boots and waterproofs are essential.
