From Horsebridge the route at first follows a disused railway line and parts of the Test Way and Monarch’s Way. Never far from the Test, it then crosses the river in a number of places. We need to look out for the silver-flecked trout for which this chalk river is so famous. It turns onto the Clarendon Way and continues through Houghton village and across farmland. An ancient track crosses the route of an old Roman Road, and the path leads back across the river.
