We walk north of Thirsk on field paths and tracks crossing under the railway line via a tunnel and eventually reach the village of Carlton Miniott. After a short walk through the village we take a quiet road to rejoin footpaths which lead us through fields and woods before arriving at Thirsk railway station. If anyone wishes to leave the walk early they can catch a train back to York. From the station car park we follow a path back to Thirsk via fields and the racecourse. There are no hills or stiles. There are cafes and pubs in the town centre for refreshments. It will be muddy so gaiters and poles would be useful. No dogs please.
