Overview

The route follows undulating forest trails and permissive footpaths, some fairly steep. Walking toward Gilling Castle. Lunch will be at either Lower Fish pond or on North side with panoramic views over Ampleforth. No stiles and little mud.

Starting from the entrance to Yearsley Woods with parking on the side of the forestry road. Follow the road north from Yearsley village towards Ampleforth. The forestry road parking is on the right after passing the road to Coxwold on the left.
