We are the York Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We leave the car park and follow the disused railway towards Thorpe Arch. We follow the designated 'cycle track 665' through the underpass under the A1(M). We continue on this track past the racecourse, prison, Thorp Arch Trading Estate and eventually the Wharfe Bridge. We then follow the River Wharfe along the Ebor Way towards Boston Spa before crossing the bridge to Thorp Arch Village. There is around half a mile of road walking before we return to paths and tracks taking us back to Wetherby. We pass the River Wharfe Picnic area before crossing Wetherby Bridge and passing the Leisure Centre on our way back to our car park.
The first part of our route is on relatively well maintained tracks and paths although the later part of the walk involved some very muddy paths and tracks where walking poles may be very advantageous.
