This is a fairly hilly walk, at a moderate pace, on well-trodden paths and tracks, with beautiful views of the Hampshire countryside. It is a circular walk from Upham to Owslebury. It passes through woodland and fields, with short spells on quiet county lanes.
There are several stiles and there is likely to be livestock in fields, so it is unsuitable for dogs (or for those who don't like encounters with cows, horses, sheep etc). You might like to bring walking poles if you generally use them.
Please bring refreshments including lunch. The walk will start at Upham Recreation Ground Car Park, SO32 1JN which is at the junction of Shoe Lane and Upham Street. The best way to get there is by the main Bishops Waltham road (B2177), turn into Upham Street at Lower Upham. There are limited spaces but there is additional parking on Church Street by the pond. There will be a stop for a picnic lunch. Please send a text to the walk leader if you have any questions. If you could confirm you'll be attending that will be really helpful. Please arrive by 10.15 for a prompt start at 10.30. For those who would like to join me for a drink at the end of the walk there's the Shoe pub in the centre of Upham.
