The lakes in the hills 6 miles E of Aberystwyth is a locally well known area for walking & cycling. This route starts from the car park area near Llyn Pendam then descends down to the village of Cwmsymlog ascends out of the village & back down to Cwmerfyn. Both these places were once areas where Lead, Zinc, Copper & silver were mined in earlier times. From Cwmerfyn the route ascends up a track to Llyn Rhosgoch, then past another lake Llyn Blaenmelindwr & via forestry tracks & paths over Mynydd March to the final largest of the lakes Llyn Craigypistyll which supplies domestic water to the areas W of there. Thence forestry tracks back to the start.
