Overview

An easy to moderate 4.5 mile walk over the Lickey Hills, focusing on the geology and history of the area. There are some steep inclines - the wearing of stout walking boots is recommended, and walking poles may also be helpful. Our walk from Barnt Green leads us into Lickey Hills Country Park which hopefully will display a late show of bluebells. We will pause briefly at the visitor centre before continuing gently downhill along the Drovers Way bridleway, then crossing a road onto a further footpath which skirts the golf course. We then climb Rednal Hill, which offers views towards the city centre; then head south across the ridge before retracing our steps along the Drovers Way back towards the visitor centre. We then take a loop over Bilberry Hill before arriving at Cofton Hill, with fine views over the Bittell reservoirs. Finally, we return through woodland back to the station.
