Overview

An opportunity for a leisurely walk around Windsor Great Park and a chance to see the red deer during the annual rut. We start our walk by leaving the car park and crossing the busy A332 across stag meadow to loop round to enter the great park through the Rangers Gate. From here we go through the village and make our way to the entrance of the deer park. We are likely to see the deer as soon as we enter the deer park and its important for us to keep together and keep at least 50 metres away from the deer so that we can observe and not cause them any concern. We then join the Long walk and head towards the Copper Horse where we stop for our picnic lunch. After lunch we head off to the wooded area of the deer park where we might see more deer who are not currently part of the rut and some good displays of fungi. Then we make our way back to the long walk and head in the direction of the castle before looping back round to our cars.
