Overview

Would you like a short walk to round off 2025? Why not join York Ramblers for their last walk of 2025. We will finish in plenty of time for you to return home to prepare to “ring in the New Year”.

The walk will include views across the Vale of York (subject to weather), a part of the Selby Canal towpath and short sections of the Selby Horseshoe walk.

Distance to travel from the centre of York – 16.7miles (30mins) on A19 and A63 (per AA Route Planner). Leave the Selby By-pass (A63) at the Roundabout with the A19 then travel along the A19 heading towards Brayton village and take the first left turn onto Mill Lane. Car parking is at the western end of Mill Lane.
Car sharing by private arrangement is encouraged.
Registered assistance dogs only with the prior consent of the Walk Leader as some fields are likely to contain livestock.
Parking – free on road side at the western end of Mill Lane, Brayton.
Public Toilets – nearest in Selby Bus Station.
Terrain – footpaths, bridleway, woodland and farm tracks plus short sections on usually quiet minor roads. Note: some muddy sections in parts of the walk are possible following wet weather.
Pace – fairly brisk.
Stiles – just a few.
Walk distance and ascent as per OS Maps.
Refreshments post walk: you are welcome to join us in the Café at Selby Garden Centre (YO8 5HG). in Osgodby off the A19 just north of Selby
