Train & bus-based walk
Leader: Alison, joining train at Hazel Grove
Ascent: 800 metres
Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station for the 08:51 train (final destination Buxton). Alternatively, meet the group on the train or at the station in Buxton, where we transfer to the 442 bus at 10:28.
Suggested Ticket: Greater Manchester Wayfarer £15.20 - the Wayfarer covers the extended area encompassing Buxton and Earl Sterndale.
Walk Start: The Quiet Woman (pub is closed), EarlSterndale, SK17 0BU at 10:40. Drivers are advised to park in Buxton and join us on the 442 bus.
Waypoints: Chrome Hill, Hollins Hill, Hollinsclough, Tenterhill, Stanley Moor, Grin Low, Solomon'sTemple, Buxton Country Park.
Return Services: From Buxton: 16.46, 17.16, 17.45, 18.16, 18.46, 19.16, 20.13, 21.14, 22.13, 22.57.
Extra: Toilets at Buxton station before we catch the bus. None on the bus or at walk start, then none en route until 9.5 miles into the walk. Optional drinks in Buxton at the end of the walk.
A walk across the hills and moors to the south of Buxton. We will ascend Chrome Hill, Hollins Hill and Solomon's Temple. Due to the significant ascent involved, a good level of fitness is required for this walk.
