Overview

Initial ascent up Moel Tan y Coed ('Velvet Hill'). View of Valle Crucis Abbey ruins from the top, then down to the Eglwyseg River valley. We take a forested track up to our lunch stop, then across the valley to the Britannia Hotel. From here we follow the track of an old quarry tramway, to a second stop, and then drop down to LLantysilio, where we pass the chapel, and then down to the horseshoe falls, where the Llangollen Canal begins. A small metal bridge takes us back to the car park. Magnificent views of the Llangollen Vale.
