A leisurely 5.5 mile walk of two halves along field footpaths with some walking on quiet country lanes, though we do have to cross the busy A483 twice.
The morning section of the walk of 2.75 miles, will take us along part of the Offa’s Dyke National Trail as it runs along the towpath of the Montgomery Canal, then up into Llanymynech Nature Reserve, past limestone kilns, a restored gin wheel and the ruins of an old winding house. There will be a stop for coffee and chance to chat with our special guest. Our return to the village hall takes us past the amazing Hoffman Kiln, the chimney and the stables.
Our guest will depart at this point and we shall lunch in the playing fields adjacent the village hall.
The afternoon section of the walk of 2.75miles takes us through the verdant countryside to the west of Llanymynech and along further lengths of the Offa’s Dyke path alongside the Montgomery Canal.
Please bring your own refreshments.
