Overview

WALK DESCRIPTION: Morning 5 miles, generally moderate walking, with about 500 feet of ascent and at least 10 stiles. From the canal, we walk on field paths, bridleways, rough tracks and minor roads, firstly heading west, circling south and finally east, joining the Worcester & Birmingham canal for the final section back to the pub for lunch. Afternoon 2.5 miles. We head north along the canal to Lower Bittell Reservoir where we circuit the reservoir before heading south on tracks and minor roads back to the pub.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS: Meet by 10.30 am at The Weighbridge pub, Alvechurch Marina, Scarfield Wharf, Alvechurch, B48 7SQ. By car: there is limited parking at the pub. By Train: The 9.43 am train from Birmingham New Street arrives Alvechurch 10.18 am. Then walk to the pub, 3 minutes. (West Midlands travel pass holders will need to purchase a return ticket from Longbridge to Alvechurch). The walk leader will be arriving by train and will meet walkers at Alvechurch station and at the pub. Return trains are approximately half hourly. Lunch: The Weighbridge is a CAMRA pub and food will be assorted rolls and pork pies, not a full menu on the date of the walk.
