Around and above Grasmere & Rydal (includes Silver Howe summit) - 🐝🐝+ Group

Leaving the A591 we walk around the north of Grasmere village following the River Rothay and Easedale Beck until we join Easedale Road and then walk to Goody Bridge, to pick up the footpath that crosses Easedale Beck (via stepping stones) and start a steady ascent to Silver Howe summit.  We then start a long undulating descent, skirting Wyke Plantation and Hammerscar Plantation before crossing Red Bank Road and joining Loughrigg Terrace.  At the end of the terrace we will keep to the higher path that eventually leads past Rydal Cave. We will then descend to the edge of Rydal Water and follow the path around to cross the River Rothay by a footbridge into Rydal Village.  We cross the A591 into Dora's Field passing through the grounds of St Mary's Church to the entrance of Rydal Hall. From here we pick up The Coffin Route which we follow all the way back to Grasmere, meeting the A591 at the Swan Hotel, close to where the Cars are parked.
