Overview

The walk starts in Aspenden, a village just outside Buntingford. We will walk past St Mary Aspenden Church towards Cottered Warren, then we will join a Roman road for a pleasant walk through woodland towards Wakeley, an abandoned medieval village. We then descend gently towards Aspenden

The tracks are largely byways open to all traffic, so have good surfaces and very little traffic. There are some stretches of very quiet minor roads and 3 ploughed fields, where the field edges can be used if it is muddy.

Aspenden has a pub for post walk refreshments.

The Fox, Aspenden has agreed to us parking in the pub car park. This will necessitate a walk through the village on a narrow lane.
