Overview

The walk starts from the large sculpture, Monarch of Auchmountain Glen and follows the path with fifteen staircases and eight bridges that were restored in 2013 by local community groups to create an ‘area of outstanding beauty’ along the gorge of Cartsburn.  The waterfalls are beautiful.

Our path emerges near Whinhill Reservoir where we will stop for a break before continuing round a golf course and across open country and farm tracks to Corlick Hill.  This is a moderate wee climb with views of Loch Thom and the Clyde Valley.  Look out for Iron Age and Roman settlement remains and reminders of WWII activities.
