Overview

This walk is a meandering loop from Ayot Green via Ayot St Peter, Ayot Greenway and Lamer Park to Ayot St Lawrence and back with some lovely views across open fields and wonderful woodland paths.

The route will take us to the arts & crafts church in St Peter, Bride Hall - formerly WW2 Special Operations Executive weapons testing Station VI (think James Bond Q division!), and a very unusual footpath 'gate'.

Part of the walk is along the lime tree avenue that Apsley Cherry Garrard (member of Scott's Antarctic Terra Nova Expedition) used to walk from his home at Lamer House to visit his friend G B Shaw in Ayot St Lawrence.
