There is a limit of 20 people for this walk and booking is essential. Please book after 30 July, using the email contact link on this webpage.
We catch the 09.05 train from Paddington arriving Newbury at 09.54. Change for the 10.11 train on platform 2, arriving Bedwyn Station at 10.30. Buy a day return to Bedwyn.
This is an undulating walk through Wiltshire countryside, with short climbs throughout the day. The morning walk includes fields, woodland, lanes and a canal. Lunch is at The Swan in the village of Wilton (see link below). Please email me by close on Tuesday 26 August at the very latest if you want a pub lunch.
In the afternoon we have a longer walk, through fields and following forest tracks, enjoying country views before reaching Bedwyn Station. Return trains are roughly hourly, but there is a shop and a pub in the village, and St Mary's Church serves teas until 5pm. Our return journey involves changing trains at Newbury.
There are no toilets at Bedwyn Station, but there should be time on the outward journey to use those on platform 2 at Newbury Station.
There are no drop-out points along the route.
Walking boots are essential for this walk. There is a section that has some brambles and nettles, so shorts are not advisable.
