A varied, sometimes hilly walk, starting from Biggin Hill. Heading west out of Biggin Hill, past the RAF museum and chapel, towards Jewels Wood and then following the Tandridge border path to the isolated church of St Leonard's in Chelsham. After a break at the church, we then head towards Tatsfield for a picnic lunch, and/or a drink in Ye Old Ship for those so inclined. After lunch we head back towards Biggin Hill.
The route is quite hilly in places and there is quite a steep descent out of Biggin Hill down steps early on in the walk. Walking poles may come in handy, especially if you have patella issues! The first part of the walk is not too muddy, but for the last two miles into Biggin Hill, there may be mud. There are also around half a dozen stiles to navigate. No dogs please as we cross fields with livestock.
Please bring a picnic lunch.
The start point is the free public car park behind Biggin Hill swimming pool. The car park is immediate left on Church Road, after the pool. There is blue car parking sign and a Biggin Hill Clinic sign to guide you. You can also park on the road, on Church Road. Biggin Hill is now in ULEZ. Please check your car is compliant, or you may be subject to a daily charge. This can be done of the Transport for London website.
