Overview

This 11.5 mile/18.5kms moderate walk includes a couple of strenuous climbs and has approx 1950 feet/594m of ascent (OS app).

From the car park and going along the canal towards Clarence Mill, we go through Bollington and up above Harrop Wood, before dropping down towards Rainowlow and joining the Gritstone Trail. After skirting White Nancy, we head towards Swanscoe Hall and back along the canal, over the viaduct and to the car park. 

The route: Adlington Road CP - Clarence Mill - Sowcar - Brink Farm - Further Harrop Farm - Harrop Fold Farm - Billinge Head Farm - Rainolow - Gritstone Trail - Swanscoe Farm - Swanscoe Hall - Macclesfield Canal and Middlewood Way - Adlington Road CP

This route has a mixture of paths, lanes, tracks and bridleways. Poles recommended. Bring snacks, lunch and drinks. No dogs due to livestock in fields.
