Overview

A walk in the Black Mountains that is probably at the upper end of the moderate scale. The first 2 miles consists of gradual and gentle climbing. Over the next 3/4 mile the climbing steepens until we attain the ridge. We then descend along the Offa’s Dyke Path which runs along the crest of Hatterrall Hill. Still descending, we follow the ODP southwards, past the remains of the iron age fort of Pen-twyn and enter Strawberry Cottage Woods Nature Reserve before returning to the start point.
