We meet at 10.30 at Royal Albert Station which is on the DLR. This links to the start of the stage at Beckton District Park.
Of interest along the way is the Albert Dock, London City Airport, King George V Dock and Anthony Gormley statues in Woolwich. To cross the Thames we will go through the Woolwich Foot Tunnel or take the Woolwich Ferry to reach the end of the Capital Ring. In this section walking is almost always on roads and tarmac surfaces. Note: there are limited toilet facilities on this section of the capital ring.
The walk ends in Woolwich Arsenal next to the Elizabeth Line Station and there are a number of alternative public transport choices nearby - Thames Clipper, Woolwich Arsenal Train and DLR and buses.
There are drop-out routes at DLR stations along the way.
There is currently repair work underway at the lock on King George v lock which is currently closed with a diversion in place. This is due to be completed during October so please check the description just before the walk to check up-to-date information.
This is a short section of the Capital Ring and the intention is to complete the walk with a "banana break" along the way and there is the possibility to go to one of the pubs or cafes at the end of the walk.
