A walk around our industrial heritage.
From the picnic site our route passes Causey Arch. Dating from 1725 it is the oldest surviving single arch railway bridge. Spanning over 100ft at a height of 80ft, it was built to link the Tanfield collieries with the main Tyne waggonway. We follow paths through Carrickshill Wood and across Beamish Park to Home Farm. Our return is via Coppy Lane on the Tyne and Wear Heritage Way.
Cafe at the picnic area after the walk.
