This is an adventurous walk featuring an exciting mix of conditions from pastoral riverside walk to low level scrambling. We began at the popular Cavendish Pavilion, following the river Wharfe via drama of Strid Wood to the more tranquil conditions at Appletreewick. We will cross the moor to Troller's Gill to enjoy some challenging scrambling. Passing Parceval Hall, we then will ascend Simon's Seat (485m), using the lesser known northern path to Simon's seat which offer awesome views of the Wharf Valley and surrounding fells, we then return to the Cavendish Pavilion for tea and cake!
This is a challenging walk over some uneven ground so although no technical skills are required, suitable foot-wear and a reasonable level of fitness are essential. Please also remember to bring a packed lunch and waterproofs/ sunscreen.
The walk begins at The Cavendish Pavilion adjacent to the RIVERSIDE car park. The car park costs £15.00 (or £12.50 if booked in advance), so car sharing is advised. I can pick a limited number of people from Guiseley Station so please contact me if you would like a lift.
The DalesBus 874 runs from Leeds to Bolton Abbey , but arrives slightly after the anticipated start of the walk - so please let me know if you are taking this option so we can wait for you!

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on parts of this walk due to restrictions imposed by the Bolton Abbey estate - so this walk is unsuitable for dogs.
