Overview

Easy flat walk which may be muddy in places .

This pleasant walk starts from the car park at Chelford Railway Station. We will walk through open farmland with good views on a clear day of the Peak District summits of Shutlingsloe and Shining Tor. The route takes us to the Church of St Mary's in Nether Alderley, which dates back to about 1300. The red sandstone of the church is of the same type used in the building of Nether Alderley Mill and the old school buildings, which were built in the late 1500s and early 1600s. After leaving Nether Alderley we will cross pastures, with good views back to the church. We will take a short walk down a quiet country lane before passing through woodland and out into farmland before returning to Chelford Village.
