A 10-11 mile walk starting at 10am from Trentabank Reservoir Car Park, Standing Stone Road, off Clark Lane, Sutton, SK11 0NS. Pay and display £6.50 per day. Free roadside parking pay be available on Standing Stone Road.
From the car park we make our way into Macclesfield Forest and onto the first ascent of the day to the summit of Shuttlingsloe. We then skirt around Wildboarclough and along Clough Brook to the lower slopes of Hammerton Knowl before returning via Nabs Hill, Higher Kinderfields and along the Gritsone Trail and the banks of Ridgegate Reservoir.
The walk offers great views on a clear day and varied terrain including farmland, reservoirs, forest, hills, streams and moorland.
Please note: this is a very hilly walk at a moderate pace. Sturdy walking boots are essential.
I expect it to take around 5.5 to 6 hours and at this time of year it will be cold on the higher slopes so a hot drink, lunch and snacks are strongly recommended. Warm clothing, hat and gloves are essential.
No dogs please.
