Overview

Departing from Braithwaite, we will take the grassy path skirting the NW side of Stile End and continue on the rocky path up to the col between Scar Crags and Sail. It is then a long pull up to Crag Hill firstly via the infamous snaking path to Sail and then via its steep, rocky path along The Scar. Once we have summitted Crag Hill, it is an easy descent down to a main junction of paths before heading north to Coledale Hause. We will then descend to Force Crag Mines before walking out on the lovely path looking down the Coledale valley. The paths are good throughout although there may a bit of 'hands on' ascending The Scar. Before we visit the mines, there is Coledale Beck to cross via stepping stones. Although graded as strenuous, this walk will be taken at a moderate pace.
