Overview

From the Forest car park, we descend on the minor road and cross the Afon Honddu at Pont Rhys Powell. From there we ascend through fields and tracks and onto Offas Dyke, over the hill fort and on to the trig point.  We then descend through fields and contour round the secluded Cwm Iau, passing the highly visible "yellow house" Ty-hwnt-bwlch, and on to Cwmyoy where we can visit the leaning church. Paths through fields, over a footbridge and up through Llanthony woods take us back to the car park.

At the Queens Head pub take the left immediately after the pub, with a steep ascent on a very minor road. The Forest car park is about a quarter of a mile up on the right hand side. The road is closed soon after the Queens Head on the valley road, so ignore all road closed signs.
