A pleasant, varied walk from Dumbarton to Old Kilpatrick through the Kilpatrick Hills
If travelling by public transport catch the 09:25 train from Helensburgh Central arriving at Dumbarton East at 09:42 or the 09:40 train from Dalmuir arriving at Dumbarton East at 09:51.
Woodland to grassland onto a traverse of the Langcraigs with views of Lochs Lomond and Humphrey, looking up and down the Clyde from the braes above Kilpatrick. Crossing farm land to reach Old Kilpatrick.
Return to Dumbarton via public transport.
Local Grade: B but only due to length
Terrain: Natural woodland paths and designed paths steep in places, muddy in places after rain. Two burns to cross stepping stones. Reasonable under foot for the most part. Advise boots, gaiters & walking poles.
