Overview

A spectacular walk with marvellous views, riverside walks and the towering edifice of Arundel castle.

The walk immediately climbs onto the South Downs from Amberley and we follow the ridge for a couple of miles before dropping down past the picturesque village of Burpham. We follow the River Arun to Arundel with varying views of the Castle as we get closer to our picnic lunch break, during which the group can explore the sights of the town and/or its hostelries and cafes.

The return trip will be through the pleasant vistas of the undulating Arundel Park, passing Hiorne Tower before re-joining the river and passing through the historic centre of Amberley (pub and cafe) to our starting point.
