An early evening gentle short circular walk of about 3.5 miles which starts and finishes at the Horse and Jockey Pub on Usk Road, Pontypool.
Leaving the pub we will cross the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal at Jockey Bridge (bridge 55) and join the footpath. This will take us across farmland and through woodland, with views up to the Folly on our left and down to the canal on our right. Our walk will take us past Upper Govera Farmhouse and on to Troed-y-rhiw (both of which are listed buildings). At this point we will turn right and going through more open fields down to cross back over the canal at Troed-y-rhiw Bridge (bridge 61), Here we will join the towpath and follow the canal, and through the churchyard back to the pub.
Getting back to the pub we will enjoy a few drinks and an evening meal if you so desire.
Pre-booking requested. Please message walk leader, Lynne Beament (07789 858850).
For those intending to go to the pub afterwards, can you please let the leader know by 8 July so that we are able to let the publican know numbers and he will reserve tables for us.
