Overview

This varied and interesting walk takes us to the wide open spaces of Ewyas Harold Common, the settlement of Riverdale (once the site of a workhouse) and Dore Abbey. We head up to the common and follow hard surfaces and a lane before heading across farm fields for some while. We eventually reach the hamlet of Bacton, thereafter a good bit of quiet road walking will lead us to the Riverdale settlement and later orchards. A meandering stream will lead us to Dore Abbey for a possible visit inside. A sharp rise back to the common, which we traverse to a steep drop at the end.  There will be one gate to climb and a stream to leap across (2 foot leap) or wellies or get wet. Also about 20 stiles!
