This is a moderate walk that combines natural woodland, a bit of history and world-class engineering. Main items of interest are:
- The Falkirk Wheel: A 35-meter tall rotating boat lift, the only one of its kind in the world, which connects the Forth & Clyde Canal to the Union Canal.
- Canada Wood: A large green space known for its wildlife, including rare pond life and past mining heritage.
- Rough Castle Fort: A historic Roman fort dating back to 142 AD, located on the Antonine Wall.
- Battle of Falkirk Monument: A monument to the 1746 Battle of Falkirk Muir, also known as the Homeguard Monument.
The walk is on good paths with a couple of uphill sections. Can be muddy in parts after rain.
