A hike through the rolling green hillside of the Yorkshire dales between the picturesque villages of Gargrave and Airton. Picture postcard Yorkshire.
The walk distance is about 9-10 miles and should take 4 to 5 hours to complete.
The terrain is straightforward rolling hill footpaths with the odd steep section.
The start point is the Masons Arms pub in Gargrave, which we will stop at for a well deserved drink at the end.
If coming by train, the 9:09am northern rail service from Leeds to Carlisle arrives at Gargrave at 10:02am, and the start point of the walk is about a 5 mins walk from the station.
If arriving by car, Gargrave has a number of free public car parks dotted around the village, including North Street, West Street and Water Street. Likely to fill up quickly at the weekend, so you are advised to arrive early.
There are public conveniences at in Gargrave which we will stop at shortly after starting the walk.
Unfortunately dogs are not permitted on this walk as there is a large presence of livestock along the route.
Hot weather is expected, so please bring sun protection and adequate water supplies.
