Starting at Glenridding, this walk will be completed in an anti-clockwise direction so starting with a walk alongside Ullswater (with a very short road walk where care will be needed). We will then branch off and take the Seldom Seen path skirting around Glencoyne Wood and branch off again up a steep path to the col between the two fells. Then it's up to Glenridding Dodd first with it's great views of Ullswater and returning to the col, we start our next steep ascent on a rocky but good path towards Sheffield Pike. Once on the fell top, the ground may be boggy along to and then descending from Sheffield Pike until we reach the disused mine workings. From here, our descent to YHA Helvellyn is via a path which sometimes has some scree. Finally, crossing the bridge over the beck, we will make our way back to the start avoiding the Greenside Mine road. Although marked as strenuous, the pace will be moderate.
