Circular walk approx 7 miles. Assistance dogs only,
We walk through the village and cross the railway line near Cliff Rigg Quarry. We then climb through the trees and follow the path along the edge of the wood towards Roseberry Topping. At the time of the recce (7 May) the bluebells are in full bloom. Leaving the woods above Newton we contour round the north side of the hill to reach the top of Aireyholme Lane. We then follow the Cleveland Way climbing Little Roseberry and follow the CW north to Gribdale Gate. From here we descend on the path to Gribdale Terrace and then follow the road to the crossroads at Aireyholme Lane. We then follow the track via Fletchers Farm to Little Ayton and use field paths passing the cricket ground to return to the village.
There will be a ten minute break. Please feel free to bring a drink/snack to enjoy.
Some road walking on minor roads which are narrow and can be busy - care needed.
There is a short section on the first climb through the woods where the path is about 2 ft wide with quite a steep slope down on one side.
