Overview

Circular walk approx 7.5 miles. Assistance dogs only.

From the carpark we head approx N on the Cleveland Way along Great Ayton Moor and then E, still following the Cleveland Way, to Highcliffe Nab. We then turn approx south and pass Sleddale farm with a small climb up to Percy Cross Rigg. From there we walk NW on the road then take the footpath which runs W and then approx S to return to the start.

There will be a ten minute break. Please feel free to bring a drink/snack to enjoy.

The walk is mainly on good paths/tracks across moorland. Some of the route is paved. Could be muddy/slippery in places if wet.

If the weather is clear there are good views across the moor, and also of the coast from Highcliffe.

The car park at Gribdale Gate can be busy so please allow time to find a space! Car sharing from Great Ayton could be an option.

Gribdale Gate car park. From Great Ayton follow Station Road and continue past the station on to Dikes Lane. This climbs past Gribdale Terrace (narrow road ) and on to the car park at Gribdale Gate. The car park can be busy, please allow time to find a space. Car sharing from Great Ayton could be an option to consider.
