Overview

Walk along the Thames from Strand on the Green (lovely old houses and pubs) past rowing clubs to Chiswick. Past St Nicholas churchyard (graves include William Hogarth, Whistler and two of Cromwell’s daughters. A short stretch of the A4 takes us past Hogarth’s House to Chiswick house Park where we will pass the orchid house to reach Chiswick House (Palladian Revival villa) where we will find toilets and a café. Back to Strand on the Green (lovely pubs and cafes) via the back streets of Chiswick.

Reached via 65 bus, South Western train to Kew bridge or District to Gunnersbury (there is a foot path alongside the track that takes you to Strand on the Green). Local cafes have toilets but you may need to buy something!

Mainly level. Some steps for underpass and bridge over railway.
