Overview

A walk through woods and across moors and farmland south of Haydon Bridge.

This route crosses the River South Tyne and climbs up to high ground above the Tyne Valley from where there are good views north towards the ridge and Hadrian’s Wall. To the south is the Allendale Valley. The walk crosses the old Allendale railway line and climbs to the Stublick Chimney (a scheduled Ancient Monument) that took fumes from the old Langley lead smelting mill. We then head back down into the valley via Langley Castle.
