Overview

A leisurely walk from Horsely via Ovingham and Whittle Dene.

Our route is south along Mill Lane and through woodland to the River Tyne. We follow the river to Ovingham before turning up along the east side of Whittle Dene to Whittle Farm. After crossing the  A69 (footbridge) we continue north to Spital before turning back to Horsley via Duns Law and Horsley Hill.

The walk is on mainly good field and woodland paths, with long but gentle inclines. Some short stretches of road walking and a potentially muddy area near Spittal.

Cafe/pub in Horsley at the end of the walk.
