A chance to get away from the Bank Holiday crowds, this is a pleasant walk through a typical Yorkshire Wolds landscape of attractive dales and sweeping wold top landscapes, with some views as far as the Sir Tatton Sykes Monument near Sledmere. We start the walk from the highest village on the Yorkshire Wolds (it also has one of the deepest wells), so no surprise, from village we head downhill to Cow Dale, then along to Oxlands Dale continuing along the Chalklands Way to meet the Yorkshire Wolds Rangers Way just south of Wetwang. We then head south along the Rangers Way and return to Huggate via Deep Dale.
The walk is locally rated as Moderate and although undulating, it does not have any steep hills.
Regrettably, no dogs allowed, except assistance dogs by prior agreement with the walk leader.
Walkers are reminded that at this time of year, ticks and other biting insects are active in the Yorkshire Wolds. Consideration should be given to using insect repellents and checking for ticks after the walk.
