Overview

 An 8 mile walk from Camelon train station on the outskirts of Falkirk along the Forth & Clyde Canal to the Kelpies and Helix Park (lunch stop, toilets, visitor centre and cafe). After lunch we will head south past Falkirk FC football stadium to Callendar Park and on to the finish line at Falkirk High train station for the train home.

Good surfaces throughout the walk. Mostly tarmac and a short section of gravel/unsurfaced path in Callendar Park.

Trains from Falkirk High are every 1/2 hour 15:14, 15:44. We should finish no later than 15:30 but if the pace is good we‘ll catch the 15:14 train which gets into Queen St 15:38.

Meet outside the ticket office in Queen St. Railway station with a return ticket to Falkirk High. Alternatively you can drive to Camelon train station where there is a car park and wait for the group to arrive around 10:00am. Please let the walk leader know if you plan to arrive at the starting point by car. The train leaves Glasgow Queen St at 09:26 and arrives in Camelon at 10:06. Note: The start and finish times for the walk are an approximation If you wish to come on the walk you must contact the leader by email, text or phone call but no more than 2 weeks in advance and provide a contact number in case arrangements change. Please notify the leader if you wish to meet at the walk start point or catch the train/bus further on route. Walkers should not come if they have any covid symptoms.
