Overview

NORTH and MID CHESHIRE WALKING WEEK - KESWICK We take the 78 bus from Keswick to Rosthwaite to the start of the walk where Toilets are available. Leaving Rosthwaite we head South to the village of Longthwaite to pick up the River Derwent which we follow North to its junction with Tongue Gill here we take a steep track up past old quarry workings to the col at 505m to take a well earned break and enjoy views towards Dale Head. After our break we continue up the ridge of Eel Crags and on to High Spy 653m form here we continue along the undulating ridge on a generally downward route passing over Maiden Moor 576m and Cat Bells 451m finally leaving the ridge at Hawes End. From Hawes end we join the Cumbria way through woodland paths to the Village of Portinscale and onward to Keswick. The walk will be taken at a moderate pace with time to enjoy the mountain scenery.
