Shake off the January chill with a leisurely evening stroll through the heart of historic Linlithgow. We’ll wander past the peaceful Canal Basin, circle the dark waters of Linlithgow Loch, and stand beneath the shadow of the great palace itself—once the glittering home of Scottish kings and queens.
Along the way, you’ll hear the atmospheric tale of a mysterious prophecy delivered to King James IV on the eve of the Battle of Flodden… a story best told where it happened, as night settles over the ruins.
This is an easy circular walk on mostly paved paths with gentle slopes—perfect for anyone who enjoys a relaxed pace, good company, and a dash of local legend. Wrap up warm, bring a torch, and join us for an evening where the past feels just a little closer.
The path around the loch is unlit, therefore please bring a headtorch if you have one.
There are plenty of places for refreshment in Linlithgow for after the walk should the group want to do this & there are toilets inside the Tesco store which we will pass on the walk.
Please be aware that there is one flight of steps we will be walking up.
It is essential that you book a place on this walk no later than 24 hours prior to the walk taking place if you wish to attend as numbers will be limited. Please state if you wish to car share at the time of booking, otherwise it will be assumed you are meeting us at the start point.
