Updated Sunday 16 November following recces undertaken on Friday 14 November and Sunday 16 November:
Following the recent recces undertaken the walk route has been re-routed to reflect the recent weather plus the closure of a section of the Montgomery Canal at Carreghofa. The walk distance is now 6.5 miles long .
The walk is a blend of a number of previous Oswestry Rambler walks starting from the Dolphin Pub car park at Llanymynech. The walk route will follow canal tow paths, country lanes, fields and include a small number of inclines. The walk will cross through a limited number of fields due to the recent heavy rainfall. From Llanymynech the route heads over to Crickheath and will include a section of tow path that has recently been improved by local volunteers. The route then returns to Pant and follows quiet tracks upwards to the nature reserve at Llanymynech where we will break for lunch, with the final section of the walk taking us back to the car park.
Walking poles are recommended.
Walkers should bring food and drink for two breaks on the walk. The first break will be taken at about 2.25miles into the walk, where the route re-joins the tow path at Crickheath Wharf.
Zone A
Alison H (walk leader) will meet walkers at the start of the walk.
David H ( walk leader) will be at Morrisons Car Park to offer lifts.
