We start the walk on a tarmac road, once we have crossed the busy A82 via a footbridge. We will be on this tarmac road for about 1.5 miles untill we begin our ascent up the western side of Glen Striddle, eventually reaching Mid Hill. This is a very steep, grassy path which will be wet in places, particularly at lower levels. Once Mid Hill is reached we follow the feint path around the head of the glen to the summit of Being Dubh. We then start our descent down the eastern side of the glen, which is also very steep. This path is badly eroded and boggy in places, but we will be rewarded with magnificent views over Loch Lomond and beyond. To get to the start point, take the M77 north to Glasgow, then M8 west and follow signs for Erskine bridge. Turn left at the far side of bridge to follow A82 Crianlarich. On Loch lomandside look out for a foot bridge crossing the main road. Turn right into Luss shortly after the bridge. The car park is just a short distance away.
Because of the nature of the terrain, walking poles and gaiters are strongly advised.
