Overview

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC VIA BOLLINGTON WALKING FESTIVAL

On this nicely paced walk, on leaving Macclesfield station, we will head to Kerridge Ridge, where you can expect some fabulous views.  We take in White Nancy, drop into Bollington and return to Macclesfield via the canal.

This walk is not suitable for children. 

Train-based walk

Leader: Mark M, joining train at Stockport

Ascent: 300 metres

Transport to Walk Start: 10:15 Avanti West Coast service (final destination London Euston) from Manchester Piccadilly station.

Meet Point: Near the ticket barriers, or on the platform at Piccadilly Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the train or at the station in Macclesfield.

Suggested Ticket: Off-peak day return from Manchester to Macclesfield costs £11.80.

Walk Start: 11:00 at Macclesfield Railway Station.

Waypoints: Macclesfield Canal, Hurdsfield Road, Cliffe Farm, Calrofold Lane, White Nancy, Water Street, Macclesfield Canal, Middlewood Way.

Return Services: x:17 & x:43 until 21:17, then 22:25 & 22:47.

Extra: The toilets at Walk Start in Macclesfield are very small and not suitable for a large group, so please use the toilets on the train. No toilets en route. No dogs please, other than registered assistance dogs.
