Transport to Walk Start: 10:48 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Sheffield)

Meet Point:  Meet at Manchester Piccadilly  train station. Alternatively, meet on the train or at the walk start at Marple station. Drivers please note that the start and end points of this walk are on different train routes.

Suggested Ticket:  GM Rail Ranger £8.20. System One 1-Day Travelcard for bus & train £8.90 if you want to retain the option of returning from Hyde by bus.

Walk Start: Marple Railway Station at 11:10

Waypoints: Peak Forest Canal via Marple Aqueduct, Hyde Bank Tunnel, Barrack Hill, Woodley Tunnel, Gibraltar Bridge.

Return Services:  From Hyde Central: Trains at 14:54, 15:24, 16:23, 16:54, 17:55, 18:23, 19:24, 19:54, 20:55. Buses to Manchester (201) at 10-minute intervals until around 17:00, then 15-minute intervals until around 19:00, then 30-minute intervals until 23:30.

Extra: No toilets at walk start or en route, unless the group opts to break at a pub. Please note the optional end of walk pub (Cheshire Ring) does not take card payments.

This walk largely follows the Peak Forest Canal, with brief detours for canal works and to visit the garden on the Chadkirk estate.

We pass through a dark tunnel with an uneven floor at one stage, so a torch is recommended.
